Go, Write, Win!

A few words: this project is intended in the spirit of friendship and cooperation.  Please refrain from grandstanding, braggadocio, buffoonery, chicanery, and haberdashery (we are making apps here, not men's clothing).  But I digress... This is not a competition, inasmuch as you are only competing with yourself to finish your app by the deadline.  With that said, please feel free to use the comments section of the blog to ask questions, tweet your accomplishments and your frustrations (hashtag #nawriappmo), and have a good time.  In your darkest hour, lean on your fellow devs for moral support and code snippets.  Conversely, when you have a breakthrough, share and enjoy!

In the coming days I'll post resources and tips for the app development process.  Please chime in with your advice or helpful links.

For live chatting, IRC can't be beat.  Come join the good folks at irc://irc.freenode.org/iphonedev

Developers, start your Xcodes!

NaWriAppMo begins!

This is the blog for National Write an iPhone App Month, inspired by NaNoWriMo.  The goal of the project is for iPhone and iPod Touch app developers to write, from start to finish, an app in one month.  As with NaNoWriMo, the month is November, 2009, but as we're getting a bit of a late start, we'll offset it a bit and give participants until the end of day on Sunday, December 6th, 2009 to finish their app (note that this timeframe does NOT include the App Store submission and approval process, which is a whole other ball of wax bag of hurt).

Note that there is no LoC (Lines of Code) requirement, but it may be a useful metric and spur on fellow app developers if you keep us apprised of functionality, milestones, and occasional LoC count.  If I have the time (in addition to writing my own app during the month) I may be able to throw together some periodic graphs to illustrate progress.

Follow the project on twitter at @NaWriAppMo.  Feel free to retweet ( RT @NaWriAppMo ) and please use the hashtag #NaWriAppMo if you are participating!
